3 Tips for Staying Safe this Summer 2020

It’s one of the best seasons of the year. While some may not like the hot weather, many of us enjoy the simple pleasures of ice cream, beach, boats, swimming pools, and sandy adventures! In the past, it almost felt like summer was a care-free time. Unfortunately, times change! It’s not always a bad thing, but this year, it’s important we take an extra precaution especially for older adults.

These are three tips staying safe this summer 2020.

Safety Tip 1: Social Distancing

It’s true that COVID-19 might not be as prevalent in the summer. This doesn’t mean you should stop the protective measures though. I think this is probably the biggest bummer. It’s hard too. For social creatures and butterflies, it’s almost like a punishment. I wish it were different! The beaches are crowded and booming with lively adventures. However, if you want to avoid contracting the COVID-19, remember to maintain the social distancing rule. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it will keep you safe along with others!

Safety Tip 2: Remember to Wear Sun Screen

Ah, the age old sun screen tip. It never gets old though. As long as the sun is shining, it’s important to remember to protect your skin. It continues to be as strong as ever. For some of us, wearing sun screen is a necessity. The skin likes vitamin D, but not the extra damage it can cause if you’re not careful. It’s good to wear sun screen. It’ll keep your skin fresh, hydrated, and burn free!

Safety Tip 3: Wear Masks Where Necessary

This goes with rule number one. It might be impossible to avoid crowded beaches, bars, or other locations people come together. Nevertheless, there are some solutions you can take. You can avoid people altogether, but of course this isn’t ideal! With jokes aside, try remembering wearing your mask where necessary. The stay-at-home orders may be gone, but most businesses and locations are requiring citizens to wear masks.

If you can’t be social distant at the beach, wear a protective mask that will keep you protected.

We don’t want to risk the the possibility of getting sick. At the same time, we don’t want to waste this summer sitting inside! A balance of both health and fun is never a bad thing. I hope these tips can give you a peace of mind, and please make sure to spend this summer doing what you love to do!
