Are Potatoes Good For You? Happy National Potato Day
Potatoes are delicious. You can fry them, bake them…the possibilities are endless. They just seem to go right with everything. They are like the best side-kick for foods of all time. Alright, I know you clicked on this link because you wanted an answer about whether or not potatoes were good for you. I will give you the answer. Despite the millions of jokes, potatoes have about them, they are a good source of nutrition if prepared correctly. Potatoes are a good source of Vitamin C, Potassium, and Fiber.
Why Do They Have a Bad Reputation?
It beats me. Potatoes are considered a staple in most European countries. In fact, Ireland endured a potato famine crisis that almost starved the country. If I had to guess why potatoes receive a bad reputation, it is because of how they are prepared. Potatoes are considered a vegetable. They are part of the healthy portions of the food group. Unfortunately, when potatoes are fried in grease and then mountains of ketchup are poured on them, it can make a healthy food unhealthy.
Too Much of a Good Thing Can Sometimes Be Bad
While potatoes have a list of health benefits, too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. This is not to say that you shouldn’t eat potatoes. Basically, avoid eating too much of them and when you do eat them, make sure that they are prepared in a way that keeps them from losing their valuable nutrients.
I am here to tell you that potatoes are an excellent source to add to your diet. Their delicious, easy on the stomach, and are included in online memes for a reason. We should take the time to celebrate the potatoes.
When You Feel Your Best, You Worry Less
Once upon a time, I was one of those people who used to feel stressed daily. I had a ton of responsibilities. The 24-hours in a day weren’t enough to finish the work I had to complete. The struggles were definitely real. I am here to say that I feel your pain. My health suffered because of it too. Your health is one of the most important aspects of your daily life. When you feel sick, it is like the whole world is going to end. Your day-to-day tasks become an impossible mission.
This is what my mind used to look on a daily basis. It was an endless cycle of repetitive responsibilities. It seemed like it wasn’t affecting my body at all until I noticed I couldn’t sleep at night. I felt tired during critical times where my mind had to be sharp.
It seems like a great balance until you realize there is no “me” time to enjoy. We get caught in this cycle of responsibilities that the last thought on our minds is ourselves and our hobbies. We forget the essentials of eating right and exercise which help create peace of mind.
I am here to tell you. You need to take the time to look after your health regardless of your size, weight, and background.
You Worry Less
Your physical and mental well being should be a priority in your life. It is easier said than done though. Once we get into the rhythm of our lives, it takes discipline to think about yourself too. Guilt can make us feel like we can’t take a break, but the truth is, we sometimes need a break too. Life is about enjoying the precious moments that will pass us by if we don’t blink.
Caregivers Are Available and Honestly We Have Plenty of Them
There are news articles that state that there is a shortage of caregivers! Our organization would be the first to admit that we have had articles discussing the crises about Certified Home Health Aides. Fortunately, our home care agency has built strong, lasting relationships throughout its short existence with compassionate, strong-willed caregivers who are fantastic.
However, what we do differently is we have an excellent reputation with our Certified Home Health Aides. We begin by training them in our facilities. We care for them and provide them with advancing employment opportunities
How they receive training:
- 76-hour classroom training at our facility
- Hands-on training
- Registered Nurses have years of experience
- Our Home Health Aides love the experience they have at our school
- E & S Academy is our number one training provider
