It beats me. Potatoes are considered a staple in most European countries. In fact, Ireland endured a potato famine crisis that almost starved the country. If I had to guess why potatoes receive a bad reputation, it is because of how they are prepared. Potatoes are considered a vegetable. They are part of the healthy portions of the food group. Unfortunately, when potatoes are fried in grease and then mountains of ketchup are poured on them, it can make a healthy food unhealthy.
Too Much of a Good Thing Can Sometimes Be Bad
While potatoes have a list of health benefits, too much of a good thing can sometimes be bad. This is not to say that you shouldn’t eat potatoes. Basically, avoid eating too much of them and when you do eat them, make sure that they are prepared in a way that keeps them from losing their valuable nutrients.
