Home Health Aide Credentials Are Important

Home Health Aide Credentials Are Important

It is a difficult process to choose a home health aide. Families throughout the United States are faced with the challenge. Home health care is the right option for families. Normally, home care services are less expensive than nursing homes. Elderly patients enjoy the advantages of staying at home.

Advice On How To Choose a Home Health Aide

Home Health Aide credentials are important. Doctor Jayne Mead shares her expertise on how to choose a valuable home caregiver. Normally, home health aides are interviewed.

Ideally, home attendants are from a reputable agency or a school. In the State of New Jersey, home care givers must renew their license every two years. In order to renew their license, they must be working or have worked within the two years.

The credentials of a home health aide make a world of difference. Usually, caregivers go through extensive training with a reputable school or agency. Coincidentally, high-quality schools are approved by the NJ Board of Nursing or by a state government program.

Why Choosing a Home Care Agency is a Good Option

A good option is a home care agency. Undoubtedly, families can choose a valuable home health aide. However, the process is painful and sometimes difficult especially due to the amount of home health aides readily available.

Without a doubt, home health aides are needed everywhere. This makes choosing harder. For this reason, it is a smart choice to go with an agency. Firstly, home care agencies know what is needed. Secondly, home health aide agencies can deal with the issues. Finally, the pay rates are competitive.

Home Health Aides prefer working with agencies. Despite their love to compassionate care, they need to feel secure with their decision.

What To Do Next With Your Home Care Services

Families should search for home care agencies near their area. If they are uncomfortable with the idea of hiring, it is definitely a safer option to let the home care agency find a valuable candidate. Nonetheless, choosing a home health aide that fits your family is one-hundred percent necessary and with the right credentials too.

Live-In Elderly Care Versus Hourly Care

Hourly Home Care Versus Live-In

It is one of the most common questions I receive about elderly care. There are thousands of articles on the two. Nevertheless, this is a simplified version of what the difference is.

What is the difference between live-in elderly care and hourly care? These two are similar to their purpose. However, live-in elderly care and hourly care have distinct qualities to them. ‘

Frankly, this is a great question. The differences were broken into two categories:

Hourly Care:

  1. Hourly care is usually a minimum of 3-4 hours per visit
  2. Agencies will begin services after an initial consultation
  3. Price varies from $15 to $28 with an average of $21 per hour

Live-In Care:

  1. Live-ins require that someone be with the patient at all times
  2. Live-in home care provides a one-on-one approach
  3. Wide range from $1000 to $10000 per month

Hourly home care services require a home health aide to be present at the home at least 3-4 hours. For Live-Ins, a home health aide is present with the loved-one at all times. Usually, it is a 24/7 care services.

Regardless, families across the United States have options. The options are endless. Normally, home care services give families a choice at a more affordable price.

How to Prepare for the Winter: Winter Health

How to Prepare for the Winter: Winter Health

Winter can cause issues with our mental and physical health.

The cold temperature leads to less outdoor time. Many who exercise outside will have a decrease in physical activity. The reduction in exercise means fewer endorphins which will negatively impact both mental and physical health. The cold temperatures can also mean fewer outings with friends. Socialization is important to human’s well-being. Feelings of isolation are very common in the winter. Another common issue is the immune systems response can slow down making you more susceptible to sickness. Many do not venture outdoors. Exposure to colds and viruses is increased because more people are in close quarters and these germs survive better in the cold.

Winter also means less sunshine. The decrease in sunshine has a great influence on mental health. Sunshine gives individuals vitamin d; a lack of vitamin d can negatively influence your mood and energy and has been linked to depression. The increase in darkness can also disrupt your Circadian rhythm. Darkness and light can affect this causing a disruption in your sleeping cycle and feeling abnormally tired.

The dry air that accompanies winter weather can cause discomfort for many. the dry air can cause the skin to itch and peel.

Another aspect leading to health issues for the winter can be a multitude of holidays. Many different religions have special holidays that take place in the winter months, which mean more people coming together and spreading germs. This also means more food. Weight gain is very likely at this time and can cause discomfort for people and affects self-esteem.

You can improve your mental and physical health.

It is important to continue exercising during winter. Try to work out at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time. This can strengthen the mood and immune system. To keep yourself motivated, you can ask friends to join a local gym or exercise class, or even find home workouts to fit into your schedule.

To stay healthy, it is important to eat healthily. It can be difficult during the winter and holidays, but proper nutrition will help give you energy and can positively affect mood.

In the winter, many individuals retreat from social interaction, but mental health can be negatively impacted by this. It is important to stay socially active, whether it be through strong relationships or volunteering to help others. Both can give you positive social interactions.

Always wash your hands. Make sure you use soap and warm water. Try to use a paper towel to open doors after. Washing your hands should take at least 20 seconds. Hand-sanitizer can also be brought anywhere in case an area does not have soap.

Adults should be sleeping 7-9 hours a night. Poor sleep can worsen the immune system, anxiety, depression, and overall mood. If the air is too dry, humidifiers should be purchased. The temperature inside a house will also affect sleep, too hot or too cold can prevent sleep.

Remember to stay active! Do the things you enjoy. While motivation and focus may be low, once you push yourself the results will be beneficial.
